When my Droid is just sitting idle it has full signal four bars. Also keeps four bars when on the internet. But as soon as I dial a number and press connect the signal drops to one to two bars. When I hang up it immediately jumps back up to four bar. Anyone else experience this or know why this...

If I root my phone can I still keep it stock or do I need to install a costom rom. I really just want to root for the overclocking and underclocking purposes right now. And I'm running 2.1 right now will I get a ota for 2.2 when it gets pushed out if rooted.
