Because the NEXUS 5X is a beautiful new addition to the NEXUS line that would meet my wife's needs perfectly. If I win I can use it to lure her back to the Android side of the force and away from her ageing iPhone 5c.
Yes, I have but you have to be rooted and install a lib file. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46993343&postcount=59 and download the file. Use a root file Explorer to put it in /system/lib/

Cm10.1 is just about perfect IMHO. A couple of things possibly don't work but I have yet to run into any of them in my use case. Ymmv

I can't wait to see the new devices, because they are smaller and way more powerful than my first few computers. Hell, they are more powerful than my Laptop! Please let luck be on my side this time.
No problem. Looks like you got bitten by the el cheapo charger bug. If you get yourself a Motorola branded one you should be all set. You can pick them up on amazon for less than 10 bucks.

Sounds like it might actually be the usb port itself. If that is the case a new battery won't help. You might need to take it in for service.
The other possibility is that the charger does not have enough amperage to charge the phone faster than you are using it. Try turning it off and charging...
I have heard of people putting 5 volts in to the 2 screws that attached the battery ribbon cable. I'm not sure which post is negative or positive. You could give it a try, what's the worst that can happen? The phone is already hosed.
