yes it does heat up,played 30 minutes of asphalt 8 and it got very hot,but this is normal,every phone i have gotten gets hot with heavy usage,so its okay.

i would recommend getting the M8 it has great battery life,sense 6 is one of the fastest OS that i have used so far,overall its a amazing phone and you wont regret getting it.

sorry man,i didn't notice that at first,honestly i don't know very much about how android works,i barley know anything about wake locks lol,this is the very first android device i have owned,before this i have been a iphone user since 2008,so i don't really understand what can cause wake locks...

It really depends on how you use the phone,if you are in a bad signal area then the phone radio will drain more battery because it will keep trying to maintain a signal,I have gotten crazy good battery life out of mine,I have great AT&T signal where I live,plus I almost always stay connected...
