    I can confirm that very dry, cracked, or cut skin can nix the sensor's ability to read an imprint. it has sometimes taken a few days for my skin to heal sufficiently to register again.

    I'm RMA'ing mine as the screen has a defect in the form of a slightly discolored band running horizontally with a blob at one end. Badly laminated display, perhaps?
