Update on my workaround: Cast icon is gone :( can no longer use this feature at all now. I didn't take any app updates either, only restarted my phone twice since my last post. ...Was it a bug? Some kind of soak test by Google?

Re:p Bluetooth enabled background play hack sreen off Found a Workaround: YouTube ver 10.37.58 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Droid Ultra Works on data and WiFi. Works for playlists/mixes! I did this using a liked videos playlist. Most of my SETTINGS are off, idk if this makes a difference though...
