It happened to me also. I don't know how or why but the fix was; hold the power on button AND the volume down button at the same time. After like 7-8 seconds it reboots. Forgive me if it's been solved or my post is redundant

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! 2 week old S7 just went totally dead on me, no response to power up, plug in charger and no lights/charge screen. Just totally black, I was cursing cause on my old phone I would just pull out the battery , wait, then insert battery and power up. ^^The above instructions...
