    Could my sim card affect whether I get 4G or not?

    My friend gave me his galaxy s4 and it's from verizon, now I have a family mobile sum card from walmart, and I can't seem to get 4G with it. I have bars but no network :(, do I have to unlock this phone, or is there a free way to get the 4G? Thank you in advance :)
