Buying a new one does not necessarily equal getting a newly made one. I just got a "new" one from Sprint. They took it off their shelves and gave it to me. It was made September 2015. When you get your new phone, it'll be interesting to see when it was made.

One additional note to my first data point. The 507 that was my first bootloop experience was made in Korea, so I guess I've had both Korean and Chinese made phones that have bootlooped. =/

Would they go through the time and effort to replace the motherboard or perform some sort of manual fix. Easier just to toss away, no? Which means you may want to run that thing hot and heavy for a few days to see if you can get it to bootloop before your warranty expires.

For the NIB 509, the "accessory" is still made in China...and Indonesia (covers I assume the charger and maybe the battery as it explicitly lists the "handset" as Made in Korea.)

One hopefully final update. Sprint tech claimed that at one point recently all the G4s were taken from the store. He believes it was to address this issue. However, the new phone (NIB) I got was also a 509. The plus side? My refurbished 509 that died within a few hours was made in China...

Oh! I did not know that there was a wifi sleep mode. It's always been set to the default...which appears to be to turn off when the screen turns off. I have changed it now and will see if that was the cause of my issues. Thanks!
