I wouldn't worry too much about the OTA update, most of the issues are taken care of already when phone is rooted, but usually devs update their roms shortly after the update rolls out since the source code is usually released prior to the OTA update anyway.

know i'm a little late in the game to reply, typically those force closes pop up if you are using a rom with journaling disabled and the battery is pulled without properly shutting down or phone loses power for some reason or it freezes. For future reference i've had luck backing up a rom...

have the same problem, but it occurs even with different roms/kernals, starting to get more and more frequent also, I never have gotten any errors though

both batteries are genuine samsung, 1 stock 1 from sprint store, thanks for letting me know someone has seen this on eclair also, prob a hardware issue, phone gets dropped a lot I work in a shop

Since Froyo my phone will randomly shut down and will not power back on unless I pull the battery, I have 2 batteries and it happens with either one. It does not shut sown while on charger/dock. I have wiped the phone multiple times, I've used several different roms also with the same result...

Just curious if anyone else had this problem, since using ace rom if i leave phone idle for an hour or two it shuts off, the only way to get it back on is to pull the battery and then it will reboot, i wiped the phone with odin back to stock eclair, updated to stock, eb13, then converted to ext4...
