I was having the sync problem with my calendar on my Samsung Galaxy S2 when I noticed a notification where it said "Too Many Deletes" with option to delete, skip, undo" (I had deleted out several old events from my S2 calendar a few days ago). I selected the delete option and the sync worked fine.
