Unfortunately, no. I have yet to hear anyone explain the syncing options in any meaningful way. I find it very confusing and in some cases counter-intuitive. :-(

Hi all. This is something that has confused me for quite a while, and I've never gotten an answer yet. I'm hoping someone can explain this to me. The sync options in the Gmail app simply don't seem to work the way I would think they would based on their worded descriptions. I'll break it down...

I don't mean the sound setting. It's a hardware issue that happens *after* the sound setting turns off.

So there's no harm in skipping everything in between? Will we even get those improvements?

Guess what! I got the notification that 6.0.1 is ready to download and install! It totally skipped over 5.1.1! Hope that isn't a problem.

Exactly the same for me. It's frustrating that the exact same device (with the sound issue) upgraded immediately to 5.1.1 and about a week or so later got Marshmallow as well. And the good device seems stuck at 5.1! :-(

That seems to be it exactly. I got a replacement and it's much quieter. Ironically, the replacement refuses to give me the 5.1.1 OTA. Meanwhile, the messed up device already has Marshmallow. Too bad I'm sending it back!

I haven't tried this yet, but based on the website you linked, it sounds like this is meant to diagnose problems with third party apps. I was hearing this noise before I had downloaded anything. Edit: Hmm, I made a much longer post before this one but it said it needed to be moderated...

It's new from Amazon. I've listened more closely and here is what I've discovered: after I tap the screen and it makes the default "tapping" sound, I put the speakers to my ear and I can hear an extremely low static sound coming from the speakers for about 1-2 seconds, sort of like white noise...

I'd love to hear your reasons for your choice, as I'm still trying to decide between the two phones. I've had the original EVO and now I have the EVO 4G LTE, so I'm very familiar with Sense (and I like it). But there's also the "newness" factor of the S4 for me. It won't be "yet another" HTC...
