    Is it possible to use without phone carrier service?

    Is it feasible to get a phone without activated phone service and use in car with AA? Thinking could load music, maps, etc in house through wi-fi. Then just leave phone in car, of course not getting phone calls or texts. Related, does it have to eat up data minutes?
