    which second device?

I bought one as a second phone. Frankly, I'm blown away. I don't often use Android for phones (I've been using iOS and BB10), but I've used it on tablets. But really the phone works great. Battery life is fantastic (modern OS coupled with low speed CPU is probably what is doing the trick)...

did anyone buy the new BLU R1 HD?

Got it over the weekend. Seemingly amazing quality for a $60 phone (of course I got the 2gb version, as everyone should). Put a MetroPCS card in there and signal strength seems fine. The ads have not bothered me so far. I really don't know how Samsung is going to sell very many $600 phones...

    Nexus 7 the Champ?

I'm still liking the Nexus 7. But is it still the champ? I'm not upgrading anytime soon, but is there a new obvious mini tablet that has replaced it?

    Android Master key security hole

Play store occasionally gets infiltrated, or at least it used to. I'm not if Google is increasing its vigilence. You probably still need to watch yourself there. Stick to the major apps and there will be little chance of an infected file being downloaded.

Isn't GS4 by definition dead on arrival?

To hit 40 million mark, the 10 million can't take time to sell through. Samsung needs to ship millions every week and keep doing that for months. I think this is going to be hard. Demand will just have to be huge to do this. And I'm not hearing about too many sell outs, so I'm not sure if the...

Isn't GS4 by definition dead on arrival?

Yep, I got my numbers wrong. I should have used the 10 million mark. But I actually see this more as an impressive feat of engineering than necessarily proof of adequate demand. Samsung launched the phone basically in the entire world during this month. That is impressive from a logistic...

Isn't GS4 by definition dead on arrival?

I'm still thinking the GS4 isn't going to work out for Samsung. Not the way they want and expect it to. It is supposed to be an iPhone competitor. To do that it needs to sell north of 40 million. Mediocre reviews, a high price and only incremental build quality improvements leads me to think...

HTC One delayed in US until Mid April

There is some pretty serious cash up for grabs in the US for the first next generation android to make it to market. Sony, HTC, and Samsung need to get it in gear. The iPhone 5S will soon start getting hyped. By July folks should be in a tizzy about when it will be launched and what it will do...

This is why I think the Galaxy S4 is better than the HTC One

Re: This is why the Galaxy S4 is better than the HTC One Yes, but it becomes increasingly more challenging to get a good picture when you add megapixels at this level. So in the end it is much more likely that the phone is worse for being a 13 megapixel phone than if Samsung had used the same...

This is why I think the Galaxy S4 is better than the HTC One

Re: This is why the Galaxy S4 is better than the HTC One In fact, more megapixels means smaller pixels, which means less light on the sensor to distribute to each pixel, which means worse low light photos. Biggest complaint for cameras in phones, ability to take low light photos. Putting 13...

ok questions and who's buying this thing?

Seriously this thread doesn't seem too promising for Samsung. And this is on an Android forum. This should be its biggest fans. I bet it will seem really good in person. Also, we don't know how cheap they can bring this thing out. Presumably it will be top dollar on launch, but with the...

Isn't GS4 by definition dead on arrival?

Well we have to see this stuff in practice. Floating touch allowing basically something like the right click on a mouse might turn out to be great. The eye control features had better work really well or else I suspect they will be annoying and turned off. But we won't know until the...

Isn't GS4 by definition dead on arrival?

Coincidentally I was having drinks last night with my friend who has a GS3 and a woman from his yoga class (who he was trying to put the moves on) and as it turns out she had the GS2. So I'm probably way off and there are enough older android users to make the switch to the GS4. I may swing by...

Isn't GS4 by definition dead on arrival?

I do think the GS3 was a game changer for the smartphone industry and the Android community. It was the phone without compromise (except to certain extent battery life, but you can swap battery and any smartphone will fail in a day if you beat on it enough). For non-tech folk it was the phone...

Isn't GS4 by definition dead on arrival?

Hmm, okay. This was kind of my point that the GS3 owners are the real prize and those folks aren't switching for a Android 4.2 phone even if it has slightly better specs. But I may be underestimation the number of GS2 owners. And I also may be underestimating the respect folks have for Samsung...
