Definitely left over tech. I have a theory as the the dark green color. Google likely just took the left over black and sage bioresin from the Pixel 5 a lot less sage than black mixed them and here we are with a mostly black Pixel 5a.

Yeah I had to shut off the double tap power button after looking like a creep with it flashing one too many times

Clean install on Nougat and mine definitely lags and super thanked out
