It's sad to hear the V20 isn't doing so well, I really liked that second screen idea so I hope that stays. I'd buy the V20 over the G5 now for what that's worth.
The S8 and Note 8 don't appeal to you? Not saying there's anything wrong with the Huawei but if you have the cash the new Samsung's will be their best yet by far.
Sounds like a horrific experience, I only hope you're the exception. I've never claimed for anything on any insurance but I'm willing to bet most aren't easy to claim on. Maybe you'll change your mind when you see the S8!
I can't say I've noticed any deterioration over time in any of the AMOLED screens I've owned but they do seem harder to view in direct sunlight. Having said that I do think the positives (more energy efficient, high contrast, deep blacks) more than make up for it.
I agree, I could easily keep mine for 2-3 years. Just wait until that S8 comes out though. If the rumor mill is to be believed not sure I'll be able to resist.
I'm not sure Verizon will be able to do anything for you but I'm sure Samsung will be able to. You could always get the screen and digitizer replaced as cohoman said, at least then you'll be able to sell it and get your data back.
Must be nice to be a billionaire.
To answer the OP's question though, the next phone I buy will be the S8. I think the pixel's overpriced and has a totally uninspiring design.
I've not tried the v20 but I did try the V10 and didn't think the world of it. The Mate 9 is crazy powerful, has a huge screen and great battery life. I also like the fact it's based on Android 7 Nougat. I think you made the right decision.
