Also try changing your IP address to the same one as your wife's if you can. That's in the advanced Wi-Fi settings too I think. That's what solved my problem at a cafe where I needed Wi-Fi but couldn't connect. Posted via my lag-free, always updated Nexus 4

Download a file managing app. If you have the music then it should appear in some folder when you dig in. I know some of my music didn't appear on play music until I found it inside a folder and opened it up. It was like play music was saying "Oh! There's music there!". I hope the app helps...
