I got a Sprint Samsung update and now my S8+ connects and stays connected. I did nothing different. Can't say for sure the update did it but it works now.

I don't have that option either. I DID try adding the bluethooth in my car to 'Trusted Devices". Maybe that will fix it.

M s8+ connects to my Maxima for about 20 seconds then disconnects.

I miss this too. Just got the s5 and love it but this is the one thing I am missing. Also the "Navigation" app which was native to the s3 (the blue arrow app) which was just a shortcut to Maps seems gone. Now I have to press maps and click on the navigation, which is fine--but I don't like...
