Development of quality SW is greatly assisted when you are able to use quality HW for test and debug - less time dealing with flaky stuff and more time creating awesome SW.

And Be Patient - it takes time to re-scan a large-ish music collection. But this does work (just dealt with similar problem on wife's Galaxy S2 Skyrocket).

My fix was to open the task manager when that message pops up - kill off both the "Kies tray agent" and the "Kies PDLR" (or something like that) service - and it will restart the Kies program and ask you again to upgrade - it should work.
