Lightflow allows you to specify whether each notification sounds during a call. Works perfectly on Z3 on KK.

I have wifi always on to allow all the push services to get thru without using mobile data. It doesn't seem to affect battery life much. I still get almost 2 days (11 hours screen on according to gsam). That's with most bloat disabled.

You might give LUX Auto Brightness a try. It's a lot more accurate than the built in at least on 4.4...

Have you checked Walkmans settings to see if they added a media folder; could be pointing at the wrong place. Also try refreshing the media index using one of the apps like Rescan SD.
