First impressions of the Axon 7 switching from OnePlus 3

On top of that, if the phone ever becomes ROOTable, one could just install XPosed Framework and install the Ambient Display module, enabling the default Android Ambient Display, if ZTE never adds it back in. Video example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_WYfyf7qWo

First impressions of the Axon 7 switching from OnePlus 3

Just a note since I was talking about it before, this is a response from a ZTE employee on the ZTE forums in regards to people wanting an option for notifications other than the Bell. (no guarantee, but at least it's something) aerospaceman Employee Jul 28, 2016 1:55 PM (in response to...

First impressions of the Axon 7 switching from OnePlus 3

Thanks for checking, much appreciated! I wasn't able to find it in the hardware specs as far as if the Axon 7 has Infrared Sensors on the front, but do you know if you wave your hand in front of the phone if the screen will turn on to the lock screen?

First impressions of the Axon 7 switching from OnePlus 3

These are my concerns. I didn't even know about the waving your hand over your phone to light up the notifications until I got the Moto X 2nd Gen (completely missed it on the 1st Gen) and I now find I do that all the time. I could see myself passing on the nicer screen, nicer speakers, nicer...

First impressions of the Axon 7 switching from OnePlus 3

Here's a bit of a question. One of my sticking points between the A7 and OP3 is that my previous two phones will have been Moto X's, and I am pretty ingrained on the Ambient Display type notifications. I know the OP3 basically has the same thing as the Moto X, and have heard that the A7 does...

First impressions of the Axon 7 switching from OnePlus 3

Thanks for the post, still struggling between the OP3 and A7 myself. My brain is telling me the A7 is an overall better phone, but I just like the idea of the OP3 more, as well as the 'cleaner' Android OS. I also prefer the capacitive buttons on the OP3 to the A7. Also, while I like the idea of...

    Oh no! Capacitive buttons!

After having used on screen buttons over my last 5 or so phones and tablets, I'm actually looking forward to having capacitive buttons again. (I think the last device I had that had them was my HTC One V) My issues with on screen are that even though I think they look nicer in a lot of cases, I...

Which phone are you switching from and why?

Moto X (2014). No real reason, as I still really like the phone, but I kinda just got the itch for a new one. I think the Moto X (2014) may also be at the end of the road for getting updates also. I was actually ordering the OnePlus 3, but randomly saw someone mention the Axon 7 in a comment...

    Oh no! Capacitive buttons!

I'm glad to have capacitive buttons, but a bit disappointed they don't light up. It makes it seem a little 'cheap' to me, although I understand it was likely due to time and production restraints.

What do your homescreens look like for 2014?

Using Nova Launcher. Love being able to assign my own icons and have swipe function on the icons. (for instance, tapping the E-mail icon brings up Gmail, swiping it brings up Exchange mail)

Google is killing low-end Android devices

Yeah, I'm running 4.2.2 on my HTC One V right now, which basically has the specs of a Nexus One (Single-core 1ghz CPU, 512md RAM, 3.7 inch screen), and it's nice and smooth. If 4.4 makes Android run even better on low end devices, assuming that someone puts out a 4.4 ROM for my One V, it might...

Stock messaging app issues: default to combined inbox, sluggishness issues

Hmm, yeah, I dropped back to the stock launcher for 4.2.2 and couldn't do it either, so shortcuts must be a function of launchers like Nova, Apex, ADW, LauncherPro, etc... Plenty of launchers to choose from, and if you just want to have the shortcut functionality, you wouldn't even need to get...

Stock messaging app issues: default to combined inbox, sluggishness issues

Maaaaybe.... it's been so long since I haven't used a launcher that I can't remember if it's part of it or not, but I think it's normally built into Android. What version of Android are you running? I'm on Jelly Bean.
