Just updated my s4 to kitkat. Previously had android os working over time which reduced battery life to a mere 7 to 10 hrs... After kitkat.. Phone has become super smooth.. Battery life has increased considerably..Lasts 1day and a few hrs on average and all problems have disappeared..very happy...

I don't remember the screen time but you are correct..more screen time reduced the android OS percentage. @dickharper..my worries started when i flashed my phone with 4.3..i had to cause some app did a bad root on my phone. Wondering when ill get the kitkat..hopefuly it should solve the battery...
