Pocket cast is a great app but the downloading is terrible. I only download over wifi and downloading makes the phone barely usable. In some cases I also get ANR. Also, when it completes playing a podcast, the phone is non responsive for 5-10 seconds, probably while they delete the played...

Did not try it but the idea sounds interesting, and the UI in the screen snapshots looks pleasant. BTW, don't expect much feedback here. Developers often come here with over optimistic expectations.

I wouldn't. Why do add more bloatware? Rooting will solve your problem.

Yes, it definitely adds one more think that can theoretically go wrong, security wise. Doing https directly from the device to your bank eliminates this unnecessary step.

Opera Mini is supposed to work against a backend proxy that filters and compresses the data sent to the device so theoretically it may requires less bandwidth. I don't know for a fact though that this is the case.
