    Sony and it's phone pivot

The Xperia series technically exists as a showcase of Sony's phone division. However, despite some features like SD card and 3.5 mm jack at that price point; they rarely sell well. Sony didn't help it's case by pricing them exorbitantly and doing poorly in terms of OS upgrades [though they have...

    [APP][FREE] PhoNetInfo - Device Info

Some feature overlap with Castro; a similar app though that shows lesser info I believe.

    What happened to Android Cental?

Not to sideline, but how old is this forum in general [I am assuming the decade plus old layout would have been way different than today's] ? Also, I guess forums are fast losing user base. Compared to the past when forums were a more decentralized and often only mode of discussion; now more...

    Movies

I watched a century old film; F W Murnau's Last Laugh. Except for ahem, the last 15 mins for so, the film is a silent masterpiece. Innovative camera work, no intertitles (which gives the film a way more universal appeal); I found it to be superior than his other 2 great works :Nosferatu and Sunrise.

What version(s) are you running now?

Gnome has gotten bloated in the years gone by [I think only Cosmic desktop built in Rust, still in alpha, is heavier than Gnome]. IIRC, Mate is an actively maintained Gnome2 fork.

    SD card or Phone

Does Kingston have a poor reputation in general? I think I have a cheap USB from them, but that's it. Answering OP's question, I keep music files (and video as well) on SD card. Apps make sense to be kept on phone but otherwise other stuff, even downloaded podcasts and music from YTM are set to...

    Your 5 g Speedtests

Looks with sad eyes in Vodafone Vodafone is in such a sorry state in India that whilst the two alternatives have nation wide 5G, Vodafone is only just rolling out to major cities. My city technically has 5G from Vodafone but only in certain areas. I think I only get 5G network connectivity when...

    What are you listening to?

I am listening to a West German band from 70s called Embryo. Whilst such music was originally categorized as 'krautrock', but that is not necessarily a genre grouping. Sound is rooted in jazz rock with influences of world music.

Name an actor that you HATE.

Meryl Streep. She might be considered a great actress but she never gelled well with me. In Only murders in the Building, I intensely disliked her. I am not defining her as a 'bad' actress because she is good. But I don't like her style.

What version(s) are you running now?

I am running Void Linux right now though I have tried everything from Debian [and it's derivatives] to Fedora to Alpine Linux. I haven't tried Slackware and Gentoo though [the latter because I don't wish to compile packages for a whole week].

What is the best distribution to begin with Linux ?

I am not sure what that means. Many distros, including the ubiquitous Ubuntu [which at one point, became literally synonymous with Linux in my country], Mint, Zorin OS and what not are built on Debian. That OS has older packages but is rock solid. There is a reason so many distros base...
