I am changing carriers and I am thinking about moving to another phone other than the Galaxy S family which I have been partial to for the last few years. Can anyone recommend other great phones? Your input is greatly appreciated.

If this helps, I was able to disable backup assistant plus through the Application Manager. Just clicked disable next to force stop. However I did call CS first and they told me they removed the service on their end. Didn't work. That's when I went into the Application Manager.
