Sounds like you need to back up and restore the phone. - after doing so, do any updates that are there for it, see if that fixes it. A pain, but may be your best course of action.

Do you mean for instance - you have an app that stores pictures/etc? You aren't trying to move the app, just where it saves those items? - If so, if the app supports it, most have an option in settings and where to save files to. sd card or external sd. That depends on the app though.

I have this question also. I have a GS3 and my wife has a Note2. I can view gifs on my phone that I've saved or transferred via Android file transfer, but when I send to her, it says cannot be displayed and deletes them.
