I've got the same issue with my 6P since the upgrade to N. My 2016 Mazda has problems connecting to the handset sometimes, and when it does i have limited functionality over Bluetooth. The track progress doesn't display correctly. Yet on my Note 7 (returned) and my S7 edge it works fine. My Work...

It would be great to have a working Nexus again... after my son slobbered all over my old one using it as a teething ring. These are NOT drool resistant!
