I don't want to be notified of emails, news stories, tweets, or anything when my phone is locked. Just calls and texts. All of those things can update when I unlock. It seems like this should save a lot of battery, but maybe I am wrong.

Hi, is there a way that I can configure my jelly bean device (android 4.1.2, GT Note 2) to turn off data when it locks. The power runs out very quickly even when the device is locked. I don't want my apps sucking my battery life when my phone is locked.

I believe you are correct that it is a bug with the Yahoo! app, but it is also a problem with the Android design. Any poorly written app can ruin my experience because Android doesn't enforce any policies regarding resource (in this case notification) access. Major problem.
