Once rooted, is there a way to unroot, or is wipe data/factory reset the way to go?

It might help to use Juice Defender once you're all set up. I've noticed a big difference in battery life!

I hear you man...the devs do a lot of hard work and don't get a lot of credit..to see this I am sure makes you a bit annoyed, and it's hard not to take these things personally..I'm sure I would feel the same way. Hats off to you guys though for keeping at it.. ;)

What the hell are you using to get such great battery life? If you use Juice Defender, could you provide settings? Also, what other apps do you have running in the background?

It sort of depends on what you want to do. Personally, after unlocking and flashing clockworkmod to run Alien ROM it was worth it until I had to update the phone...which put me back to stock after I flashed the SBF. So ask yourself...do you want to flash ROMs/kernels or not? I am waiting a...

Yeah...right now my phone is locked and I use Bootstrap to backup/recover. Again, I'd probably use a combo of Titanium to freeze your apps and then Bootstrap to nandroid backup your phone.

Totally agree with Alien ROM themeing...it looks great...I'm actually back to stock now since the latest SBF was released by Yay...but I'm hoping to learn how to theme and have some fun...or maybe I should just wait for CM7..or ICS (maybe?)..

You can create a nandroid backup using Bootstrap. But I would only do that on stock, not custom ROMs like Alien, and Homebase. There are some technical details that I know nothing about, but supposedly it'll screw your phone up and you'll have to reset to stock. I flashed Alien using Boostrap...
