Thanks for the reply. I did the hack a few years ago to get the Magic eraser on the 5a, but part of the hack was to not allow Google photos to do any updates, so I guess that no longer an issue.

Can someone confirm if the Magic eraser works on the 5a without a Google one subscription?

This sounds too simple, but I pulled the screen down to show the update and clicked on the update and "cancel" appeared, I clicked on cancel and it stopped and did not restart yet. It has been 24 hours and so far it is still gone.

I see nothing exciting and plan on keeping the note 9 for now.

I never had to swipe it before. has something changed? I have single tap to swipe turned on and it has worked fine until about a week ago. Also I tried taping on the snooze a couple times and it brought up the screen to restart or shut down the phone.

I have a note9 and my dismiss button won't work anymore on calendar or timer. snooze button not working correctly either.

Thanks for your reply. Until you asked about secure startup, I had forgotten I turned it on. Samsung should have put a warning when turning on auto restart that secure startup was on and needs to be turned off to work properly, like they have done on some other features on the phone.

Yes, it looks like that is the issue, but how secure will the phone be with it turned off? I have info in the phone that can't be seen by others.
