When I set a timer like "set timer for 5 minutes" the timer status displays on the bottom of the watch face with a pause button if needed. While the timer is running, no other notifcations are shown on the watch. Am I doing it wrong?

Got almost two full days with moderate notifications (around 35 per day) and screen set to always off. I have no need to always see the time anyway. When I turn my wrist - I see the time or I tap the screen. If I can charge it nightly, then I would likely leave the Always On setting to on...

Standard (stock) SMS cannot be responded to on watch. I found this out a few days ago. I switched to Hangouts SMS (I didn't want to) and all seems just fine actually. All works very well.

OK, thanks. I've always used the stock SMS apps. Any recommendations for another app or should I just bite the bullet and use G+ for SMS as well?

OK, I'll do a little research on it. I don't know about the AOSP Messaging app or if that's what I have. The phone is a Galaxy Note 2 and it's the SMS messaging app that came on the phone. Same App I had on Galaxy S III.

I'm using the standard Android SMS - not SMS on hangouts. Maybe there is a setting? I did notice that I can reply to regular Hangouts(GTalk) messages.

Got my Gear Live yesterday. A little disappointing except for the voice searching and commands which is very cool. I cannot believe the watch faces they included. You can see them online and most are very abstract. If you just want to see digital time, it shows small digits in the upper left...
