T-Mobile bootloader is already unlocked. If you use CF-AUTO-ROOT to root and install a recovery you can flash away. If you use ROM Manager from the play store it will install CWM recovery for you and make it super easy to make nandroid backups. Sent from my SGH-M919

Poor signal can give you that error. They probably won't honor the warranty if they notice the superuser app but if your "settings" "about" phone menu still shows "official" and not "custom" you are probably not really rooted and the stock firmware probably replaced your custom recovery with...
