Mine worked fine with a hidden SSID for a week or so, and then mysteriously had trouble connecting. Since then I've had my SSID visible, but when I get home later today I'll try hiding it again and see if I can connect.

I would possibly use one of these.

How does it look when you cast from a Chrome tab on your laptop? If up-converting to 1080p is the problem, perhaps going through Chrome will help since it seems that while the feature is in beta it only runs at 720p (see picture). I'm not at home at the moment, so I can't check to see if my tv...
