I've had the alert for just a week.....well it had also wiped out some of my photos, ring tones, etc! Sooooooo freaking bummed! I have taken the SD card out for fear I'll loose more photos that were saved to it. I plan on purchasing a new one and praying that if I do an update the issue is fixed...
