Hi Rajnish - I'm glad that worked for you but it definitely won't work for everyone as I don't have any other emails apps, and I don't even use the gmail one. Having said that, unless it's a firmware or hardware issue, there might not be one solution which works for us all...!

Forgot to mention - as well as freezing up, the S3 seems to have severed links between some of my WhatsApp conversations and my Contacts, so it now doesn't recognise who the sender is - and it's only done it for some contacts, not all, bizarrely. :-\
