I thought Google could come up with a self executable file that just needs downloading and then the user can decide when to install. That way you don't need to be logged onto servers like the OTA update. The file just needs to check for compatibility and then install the OS.

Nothing here either not that I'm bothered. I have KitKat on my nexus 5 and its not much to write home about TBH. Why is it so fiddly to sideload the update. Surely someone must have come up with an app that can automate the updating or am I overestimating the capabilities of the android fan base.

I've just bought the Nexus 5 and whilst the phone is excellent I'm not too bothered about KK TBH. I'm not in a rush to update my Nexus 7 2013 as it works fine on 4.3.
