OK, found sth. If you go further down into the settings, you can set the rington for notifications to silent. When I adjust the notification voulme it gets back to the default whistle, but if I leave them alone it stays there. It remains to be seen if it really is so.

When I set the notification sound to zero on my Galaxy Note 10.1 the system sound gets turned off. Is there anyway to leave the system sound, like tapping of the keyboard, on?
