Yes, I can confirm positive results after disabling Chrome and installing Firefox instead. Since the Chrome is off, no automatic loudspeaker calls anymore. I hope it stays this way..

Recently, the same problem has started randomly popping up with my HTC Butterfly s, which is in many ways similar to One, even before updating from 4.3. to 4.4. From time to time now, when making calls, speaker goes On. But it has never occured while accepting incoming calls. No cure found yet...
