    Clockworkmod, TWRP, or Amon RA???

Just upgraded from an Evo 4G to the GS3. I used both Clockworkmod as well as Amon RA recoveries on my Evo, but always liked Amon RA better. I am getting ready to root my GS3 and will probably use skunkape60's guide. I don't think there is a version of Amon RA available for the GS3 (please...

[GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new ROM or wiping your phone

Re: [GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new I originally rooted using unrevoked nearly a year ago and I have been able to successfully keep root with every successive OTA update using this method. I also used this method a while back to update the latest 2.3.5 (4.67.651.3)...

Update from 4.24.651.1 to 4.53.651.1 without losing root or apps

My 3g, 4g and wifi work fine. And I used this process for the last 2 updates. Might try restoring the nandroid backup you made before the update and verify that your wifi and 4g were both working at that time. If so, go thru the procedure once again.

Update from 4.24.651.1 to 4.53.651.1 without losing root or apps

I originally used this method when I updated from a stock rooted (Unrevoked) Froyo 4.22.651.2 to Gingerbread 4.24.651.1 on my Evo 4G. I was able to update without flashing a new rom or wiping my phone and was able to keep (restore) root. This procedure also worked in the same way going from...

    HTC EVO 4G Software Update - 4.53.651.1

I did the following tonite and it worked updating from 4.24.651.1 to 4.53.651.1. I originally used this method when I updated from a stock rooted (Unrevoked) Froyo 4.22.651.2 to Gingerbread 4.24.651.1 on my Evo 4G. I was able to update without flashing a new rom or wiping my phone and was able...

[GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new ROM or wiping your phone

Re: [GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new Good to hear! I think the keys to successful updates while still keeping root and all apps intact are to use Amon RA 2.3 and the latest superuser apk (post #44).

[GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new ROM or wiping your phone

You might as well try. But be sure to flash the one I attached in post #44 above. FYI: Tonite I downloaded the latest OTA, 4.24.651.1 and was able to update from 4.22.651.2 to the new one using the same method as posted above (#44) with zero problems. Just to be cautious, I did wipe the...

[GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new ROM or wiping your phone

You can sure try it with Clockwork, as apparently others have had success. In my experience, there were problems when using Clockwork and Rom Manager in this particular case (nothing against Clockwork or Rom Manager!). See post #44 above for what worked for me. It is essentially the same...

[GUIDE]Updating to rooted gingerbread WITHOUT flashing a new ROM or wiping your phone

Here is what worked for me: As modplan originally said in his post: This assumes you: - Have the latest FROYO OTA installed 3.70.651.1 - Have some experience working with flashing things in recovery - Have NOT deleted/uninstalled ANYTHING in /system - Have defrosted any bloat you froze with...
