Ended up using wugfresh and worked a treat, went off without a hitch and everything is back to normal now. Thanks for the assistance :).

Tried clearing cache in recovery but unfortunately that hasn't solved the issue either. Looks like I'm going to have to learn how to flash the factory image then. Thanks for the link.

Updated to 4.4 an hour ago. Everything went without a hitch but upon booting up my Nexus 4 kept displaying the error message "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped." I did a factory reset after backing up all my data and the issue still persists. What can I do to solve...
