Solved it. Had to manually set the APN setting like my previous phone on verizon.

I am just using the verizon SIM card by itself. Haven't attempted the dual option yet. Tried Bell, Telus, Rogers to see if it would work on any of the network. No dice. Calls yes but no data. Tried reboots few times as well.
