I am having the same annoyance, it is not your head unit. I was using marshmallow on my s7 edge with a Bluetooth earpiece. When a call would come in, the earpiece would ring it's default beep - fantastic. I upgraded to nougat and now my ringtone plays through my earpiece at the same volume...
