The mirror application flips the image like an actual mirror would. So there is a difference, especially if you were to use it to do something like apply makeup.

Menu>Windows> hit plus sign to add new window. X out to delete other windows. It's not as intuitive as WebOS, but it's two quick steps, so not a deal breaker.
