None of the solutions you mentioned above works anywhere nearly as reliably as IR blaster. It's simply foolish to jettison what works and replace it with garbage, unreliable and more expensive tech. My only regret is that I purchased only one.

I found the Note 4 very laggy and frustrating to use. I hated it! The Note 8 is so much better in every single way (except for the IR blaster being absent). If you truely find the Note 4 usable, then I'd wait until Note 9 is announced before deciding on Note 8 or Note 9.
