I just purchased a net10 ZTE whirl 2, and I don't know how to access the recent apps list. A long press on the home key opens a Google search dialog. I don't know if this is a phone specific or jelly bean quirk... Does anyone know how to assign the recent apps menu to the long press home function..?

It depends on what you're updating, but going under the assumption that you're new to this whole process, just read (word for word; I read about 4 guides like this word for word when I first upgraded my HTC Hero), and religiously follow this guide...

Okay, I waited until all the boot stuff was done, should I grab it as soon as I have a desktop, immediately after "upgrading applications" disappears? That does appear every boot, I don't know if it's everyone or just me FWIW.
