If you plug your 5volt tablet into 12v you will surely wreck it! You need to use a charger that can deliver at least 2Amps. Car chargers can often give the required current, but make sure they only put out 5volts.

One more thing after my success with getting the Tab2 10.1 to charge. The next day it stopped charging again (the battery was half-charged at the time). I tried unplugging the cable connector from the tablet and plugging back in a couple of times. It started charging again. I guess it's...
