Samsung did break something when they updated from Kies2 to Kies3 and as you say it is impossible to go backwards once you have updated. Samsung did issue an update to Kies3 recently but that did not help....it still won't sync!

Because Kies has not been able to do this since around mid of last year and Samsung/Android despite doing an update last month still have not found the solution to make it work!

The only issue I had was that by upgrading to 4.3 I was required to upgrade to Kies 3 and everyone doing this knows that they can now no longer sync their Outlook calender on their pc or laptop with the phone due to a problem with Kies 3 program. This is very annoying for me and Samsung don't...
