I ran into the same issue, and remembered I usually run an app called Twilight that makes my screen turn a red tint in the evenings/nights (supposed to help you get to sleep while looking at screens, or something (blue light apparently wakes you up)). Once I turned that off, I got past this...

Here in Minneapolis I'm getting intermittent connections. Been able to get a few emails and gchats through, but nothing consistent. Looks like it keeps switching between 3g and 4g, and then sometimes I only get the standard cell radio signal. At least I can still make calls and send texts.. Sigh..
