Hi mate, what happens when you plug the nexus into the charger in the mains- backlit /flashing pixels?!?! Secondly, have you tried to force it to go off i read : . hold the power button down for 30seconds --- this didn't work for me, it came back on still with a backlit screen/flashing pixels...

Thanks mate that helps a ton - I wasn;t sure what I should see when its chargng but off - previously when it was working I'd charged it while it was on /in use I take it the flashing pixels when I plug it in to the charger also means isnt probably isn't charging?! I had this problem a few days...
