S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

No, we're not allowed to do any of that here. We cannot attach unauthorized equipment to the network. They are very sensitive about such devices. However, I'm just glad to know my new phone is not to blame :)

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

I just got a confirmation from our IT head - they are black-listing all cell phones from the corporate "guest" network. They are doing this because there is not enough bandwidth on that network for the business users (who are also using that network). So for now, no phones. Other phones are able...

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

Uugh - I was just told that our company is not allowing cell phones to connect to the WiFi network unless they are white-listed. This is our Guest WiFi? Why would they do this? I just can't imagine. I've asked to be white-listed so we'll see if they allow that and what happens once that is done...

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

Well, I turned on WiFi Notifications on the phone and tried to connect to the WiFi network at my office. It reacted exactly the same - and no notifications of any kind. I was really hoping it would provide a notification for why it failed. How can the connection fail and not tell us why? Okay...

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

I do have a desk job, but I'm not sure where you're going there :) It's a large building and I've tried to connect from two different locations: My desk and at the desk of the IT guy. According to them, no one else is having problems connecting, so I don't see how it could be a connection limit...

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

I've used Chrome, which came on the phone and Firefox, which I installed.

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

Yes, this is a 2-stage network, as you describe. In the 1st stage, I find and attempt to connect to the network. During the connection attempt, I enter the password and click on Connect. It responds with "Connecting..." and then nothing. When I attempt to browse to any web site, the browser just...

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

Ah, thanks. My bad. I went through the article and it all seems reasonable. I got up to step 5, and I don't know what the brand/model of the AP Router is that is used at work. I was told the security should be WPA/WPA2/PSK, but that's all I know. Is it possible the S6 has a wireless transceiver...

No, they require I register with them and that they can then market to me and share my information with others. Otherwise, I can't see the article.

Yes, I've been all through the WiFi settings, advanced settings, etc. - I haven't seen anything that would help this. Thanks,

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

I was told the WPA2/PSK is the correct setting for our network, but I tried to connect using the WEP and got the same result. By the way, when I'm looking at the list of available WiFi networks, this entry shows with full strength. Thanks,

IP Settings are set to DHCP, Proxy is set to None and Security is set to WPA2/PSK. edit: We don't use proxy settings here.

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

Well, I tried to connect again today. I did it by forgetting the connection and then re-creating it from the scanned list, creating it manually (using the same SSID) and also purposefully providing an invalid password. In all cases, it acts the same: It says "Connecting..." for a second and then...

S6 on Verizon unable to connect to WiFi at work, WiFi at home works fine

Thanks for that. I've installed it and will try it while trying to connect to the WiFi when I get back there tomorrow. It doesn't look like it offers any debugging information, but I'll see what it says when I get there.
