Towelroot didn't work, and nothing else seems to be either. I have followed anything I can find online to a "t" but nothing. I took me a while to convince myself to root, and once I did, I haven't been able to.

I have a Canadian Galaxy S3, it's out of warranty, I am constantly trying to customize it. My question is, is rooting for me? What happens if I brick my device? Can I still receive OTA updates?

I could really use a new phone right now, my galaxy s3 is malfunctioning, the phone itself is in good shape, but I can't afford an early upgrade.

It's definitely not the carrier as my wife has the same phone, same carrier, and she will get her notifications anytime. I've checked the restricted data settings, Twitter, FB and Instagram are all allowed to use background data. It is very odd, and frustrating.
